Host Thoughts on How To Break Up Like An Adult
We say it all the time on the show, but honesty really is the best policy when it comes to ending a relationship. There is no need to get nasty or cut another person down. Be open, honest and real with that person as to why it’s not working. There is no shame on focusing on what you want, and letting go of something that isn’t making you happy. Easier said than done, I’m aware.
I’m an overly logical person, except when I’m a sappy romantic, and I always consider a break up as a way to demonstrate maturity and mutual respect. If you dated someone, you must have seen some redeeming values in that person, so why would you treat them like shit when it comes time to break up? That says a lot more about you than it does them. It’s hard to be an adult during emotionally charged moments in your life, but you’ll like yourself a lot more if you’re capable of taking a breath and not being a child.
