S02E22: The Shame Game: Why Dating App Shaming Is So 2000s.

App Shame Episode Summary:

This episode, Sarah and Adam talk about dating app shame. Too many people shame others for using dating apps, which is a dick move, and too many others think they should be embarrassed for choosing to use dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OKCupid, Match, POF (okay, well, POF makes sense) and others. That’s like being embarrassed for using a bike to get to work while someone else uses a train, and other people walk to work. Dating app shame is ridiculous on all ends, and whether you’re experiencing it or perpetuating it, the Dating Kinda Sucks hosts are here to tell you to cut the bullshit and join the modern world while giving you some good reasons to consider why dating apps are great tools!

Host Thoughts on Dating App Shame

I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been in town for Christmas or Thanksgiving events where my family shames me for dating around and using apps to find a connection. There is nothing wrong with embracing modern technology and using it to your advantage. Whether you’re looking for something serious or a casual hook-up, use the apps to fit your lifestyle…and screw anyone who tells you otherwise.

My parents never shame me for using dating apps. Not because they’re enlightened or anything like that. It’s because every time they’ve met someone I met in real life, chances are she’s a stripper, so when I meet someone I met on a dating app, they’re relieved. (Not to say strippers should be shameful, because I’m not embarrassed about it, but my parents are old-school conservative and shame everybody about everything. Except me when it comes to dating apps.)
